Representative Scott Perry (R-PA) offered an amendment to H.R. 2810, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018, which would have stripped out language directing the Department of Defense to prepare for the effects of climate change. The Pentagon has long warned that climate change is a grave threat to our country’s national security, and military experts, including the secretary of defense, say climate change threatens our military readiness. On July 13, the House rejected the Perry amendment by a vote of 185-234 (House roll call vote 368). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
