Federal Election Campaign Practices Act (HR 11060). This vote is on Rep. Danielson’s amendment to eliminate the requirement that candidates file financial reports with officials in their own districts, as well as in Washington D.C. Thus the amendment made it more difficult for voters and local newspapers to find out the sources of each candidate’s campaign money in time to publicize it before election day. The Nixon Administration took no position. (Adopted 230-154, Nov. 30, 1971. “No” is the correct vote.)
