Abigail Spanberger is an advocate for clean energy and environmental protection.
Spanberger began her career as a federal law enforcement officer with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and later joined the CIA as an Operations Officer. In 2014, she left the CIA and moved back to Virginia where she worked to help colleges and universities create diverse student bodies, increase graduation rates, and break down financial barriers to higher education.
As a representative, Spanberger will stand up to attacks against science and be a strong voice for climate action in Congress, as well as advocate for growing a clean energy economy and protecting clean air, clean water, and public lands.
Spanberger joins the U.S. House after defeating Representative Dave Brat, who earned a 1% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
In her own words:
“Climate change presents an ever-growing threat to our economy, our national security, and our way of life, and we’re long past due for a representative who not only acknowledges this fact but is committed to addressing it. I will be that representative.”
