In advance of a confirmation hearing for Trump judicial nominee Lawrence VanDyke to a Nevada seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) sent the following letter to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.

Federal judges play a key role in our democracy. They should be fair, impartial, and serve as an independent check on the other branches of government. VanDyke lacks meaningful connections to Nevada, his personal and legal stances are at odds with the values of Nevadans, and his extreme and offensive positions raise serious concerns about his ability to fairly judge issues on the court. VanDyke’s confirmation would pose a threat to our communities and environment.
