Missoula, Montana — LCV Victory Fund released a new Montana TV ad in opposition to Senator Steve Daines’ reelection campaign today. The ad, Auction, will run statewide beginning this week as part of a seven figure buy.
WATCH: “Auction”
The new ad calls out Sen. Daines for casting a critical vote that would open the door to selling off Montana’s public lands. The ad says, “DC politicians have been trying to auction off Montana’s public lands for years, and Steve Daines is one of them. He cast the deciding vote that would open the door for the sale of Montana’s public lands to the highest bidder — a move that would benefit out of state billionaires.”
“Steve Daines wants another turn in DC but we aren’t buying his politically convenient conservationism,” said Megan Jacobs, National Campaigns Director, LCV Victory Fund. “No matter what Senator Daines does to earn last minute votes, he has a clear anti-public lands, anti-environment record and will ultimately side with the billionaires and corporate interests that fund his campaign. Montana’s public lands should not be on the auction block.”
Daines is a member of LCV Victory Fund’s 2020 Dirty Dozen list of some of the worst anti-environmental candidates running for office this year. The Montana Senator has a lifetime LCV score of just 6% and he’s taken almost $1.4 million in campaign contributions from corporate polluters and real estate developers who want access to Montana’s public lands. Despite efforts to cast himself as a conservationist in recent weeks, Daines’ long anti-environmental record speaks for itself.
The script of the ad is below.
