Washington, D.C.– The League of Conservation Voters along with more than 130 organizations shared a letter with the Senate urging them to support S.J Res. 10 to Terminate Energy Emergency Executive Order. The League of Conservation Voters will strongly consider including votes related to this bill in our 2025 National Environmental Scorecard.
Re: Support S.J.Res. 10 to Terminate Energy Emergency Executive Order
Dear Senator:
On behalf of our millions of members and supporters, we urge you to support S.J.Res. 10, the privileged resolution led by Senators Kaine and Heinrich, to terminate the Executive Order declaring an Energy Emergency. President Trump and Republicans’ unlawful attacks on clean energy investments, renewable projects, federal workers, and electricity transmission improvements will kill American jobs, raise costs on families, and weaken our economic competitiveness.
President Trump’s declaration is a thinly-veiled attempt to ban cleaner and cheaper forms of energy and gut environmental protections in order to further enrich his oil and gas executive donors at the expense of our communities, property rights, and clean air and water. Currently, the U.S. is the largest oil producer and gas exporter in the world. And, thanks to technological innovations and private and public investments and commitments, we are on a path to producing more affordable and accessible clean energy than ever before, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs across the country. Unfortunately, this Administration is doing everything in their power – and trying to do many things well beyond their power – to undermine bedrock environmental laws, cut American jobs, raise costs on families, and harm communities, all for their corporate polluter executives.
Their unlawful attacks include:
For all these reasons, we strongly support Senators Kaine and Heinrich’s commonsense resolution to terminate the Trump Administration’s attack on American families and jobs. We urge Senators to vote YES on S.J.Res. 10, and oppose the Administration’s misguided policies that will lead to skyrocketing energy costs, harm communities and our global competitiveness.
Sincerely,
Sierra Club
