Washington, D.C.– The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Representatives Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01), Val Hoyle (OR-04), and Andrea Salinas (OR-06) and Representative-elects Maxine Dexter (OR-03) and Janelle Bynum (OR-05) on their victories in Oregon. We look forward to working together in the 119th Congress and beyond to continue making progress on addressing the climate crisis and protecting our democracy.
“Oregon is a place that prides itself on protecting our lands and waters and leading on tackling the climate crisis,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “Oregon has led on 100% clean energy, protecting democracy, and now voters have ensured that they will continue that legacy by sending these incredible climate champions to Congress. We are thrilled to continue to work with them all to build a sustainable future powered by clean energy for all.”
LCV Victory Fund spent over $320,000 in a paid digital media campaign opposing Lori Chavez-DeRemer, which focused on her acceptance of Big Oil industry donations and ties to special interests. Additionally, LCV Victory Fund included OR-05 in our House GOTV Mobilization program where we invested more than $95,000 in a digital turnout program running from October 15th through election day. In total, LCV Victory Fund invested nearly $420,000 to elect Janelle Bynum.
GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates including in Oregon — raised a record $58.5 million for the 2024 cycle.
These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot in Oregon, demonstrating that leaning into environmental issues is both good policy and good politics.
