Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Stephen Daniel for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas’s 6th Congressional District.
“Texans need leaders who are committed to addressing the climate crisis and growing Texas’s clean energy economy,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to support Stephen Daniel for Congress, because we know he will listen to the experts and prioritize protecting the health of all communities.”
“Taking on climate change is one of the biggest challenges of today,” said Stephen Daniel. “It connects to the economy, our public health and many other aspects of our lives. Too often politics is elevated over science. LCV Action Fund has spent decades fighting to build a world with a better environment that sets up our country to succeed now and in future generations. I am proud to get their endorsement.”
Stephen Daniel was raised in Itasca, TX and worked with his father at a local landfill. The first in his family to graduate from college, Daniel received an undergraduate degree from University of Texas and a J.D. from St. Mary’s University. For the past 17 years, Daniel has worked as an attorney, starting at a Dallas law firm, and then working with Clay Jenkins who also serves as Dallas County Judge. He has spent his career fighting big insurance companies to protect the health of Texans. The district’s incumbent, Republican Representative Ron Wright, has an abysmal 7 percent lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard. He has voted against protecting the right to vote, against banning offshore drilling, and against increases in pro-environment funding.
About LCV Action Fund
The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, the connected federal political action committee (PAC) of the League of Conservation Voters, works to elect leaders who stand up for a clean, healthy environment and to defeat anti-environment candidates who oppose climate action. Since the 1990 election cycle, LCVAF has helped elect and re-elect 90 U.S. Senators and 450 members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
