Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Nancy Soderberg for Congress in Florida’s 6th District.

“Nancy Soderberg has built a distinguished career in service to our country and has a record of working to fight climate change, one of the biggest threats to Florida’s future,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “Healthy rivers and beaches are critical to Florida’s economy and way of life, and Nancy Soderberg will champion clean water and fight efforts to open our coasts to offshore drilling. We are proud to endorse her campaign because we know she will always stand with Florida communities and work to restore America to global leadership in the effort against the climate crisis.”

Protecting the environment is one of the top concerns I hear from voters in my community. I’m running for Congress to make sure Washington takes this urgent issue seriously.”

Nancy Soderberg was born in San Turce, Puerto Rico. She received her bachelor’s degree in French and economics from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Soderberg served as a foreign policy advisor for Senator Ted Kennedy from 1985 to 1992. In the Clinton administration, she first served as a deputy assistant to the President for national security affairs, the number three position on the National Security Council. From 1997 through the end of the Clinton Administration, she served as Ambassador to the United Nations. In 2006, Soderberg returned to Florida where she became a visiting scholar at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville and founded her international affairs consulting firm, Soderberg Global Solutions. She served on the Board of the Jacksonville Port Authority from 2013 to 2015. In Congress, she will focus on strengthening Florida’s clean energy economy, taking action to combat the climate crisis and protecting the state’s waterways.
