Washington D.C. – Today, the League of Conservation (LCV) Voters Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Gretchen Driskell for election to the U.S. House from Michigan’s 7th Congressional District.

“Gretchen Driskell has consistently voted to protect Michigan’s wetlands and wildlife, safeguard water quality, and promote clean energy,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “LCV Action Fund is proud to support her campaign for Congress because we know she’ll be a leader for Michigan communities in Washington.”

“I am proud to earn the endorsement of LCV Action Fund,” said Gretchen Driskell. “In Congress, I pledge to be a stalwart for the environment to protect our way of life for generations to come. We need to bring clean energy jobs to our state, treat clean water as a human right, and protect our beautiful natural resources. I look forward to working with LCV to get this work done.”

“During her time in the Michigan House of Representatives, Gretchen Driskell put public health and our air and water first, leading on a number of bills around fracking, pipeline safety, and protecting the Great Lakes,” said Michigan League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Lisa Wozniak. “She understands the inherent connection between our health and our air and water, and we know she will be a strong advocate on these issues that are important to all Michiganders.”

Gretchen Driskell served on the Saline City Council for six years before becoming the city’s first female Mayor. During her 14 years as Mayor, Driskell is proud to have passed 14 balanced budgets and to have Saline named one of the top 100 small cities in America three times. In 2012, she won a seat representing rural Washtenaw County in the Michigan House of Representatives. The first public commission she served on was the Saline Environmental Commission, where they worked to protect the health of the community, raise public awareness of environmental issues, and implement the city’s recycling program. In the Michigan House, Driskell sat on the Agriculture, Elections, and Communications and Technology Committees and earned a 92% lifetime score on the Michigan League of Conservation Voters’ Scorecard.
