NAPA, CALIFORNIA – California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) CEO Sarah Rose and League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski released this statement ahead of tomorrow’s public meeting regarding the future of the Berryessa Snow Mountain region in northern California. The meeting, hosted by Rep. Mike Thompson and attended by Department of Interior Secretary Sally Jewell and Department of Agriculture Under Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment Robert Bonnie, is meant to give local residents the chance to share their vision for how the Berryessa Snow Mountain region can best be managed.
“Permanently protecting the Berryessa Snow Mountain region as a national monument would be a win for the community, the economy, and the environment. This meeting offers the public an opportunity to continue expressing the robust local support across all five counties in the Berryessa Snow Mountain region to permanently protect this area. We urge President Obama to listen to these local voices of support and act to preserve this national treasure for future generations.”
