Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today the endorsement of Tony Vargas for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District.

“Climate-fueled disasters are already taking a toll on Nebraska communities and we need leaders like Tony Vargas in Congress who will stand up to big polluters,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are thrilled to endorse Tony Vargas for Congress because we know he will continue to be a leader for a just and equitable transition to a clean energy future, environmental justice for all communities and growing sustainable jobs in Nebraska.”

“As a former earth sciences teacher, I’m honored to be supported by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Senator Tony Vargas. “In the legislature, I’ve been a strong supporter of policies that will address and combat climate change, protect our land and water, and make smart investments in clean energy. I’m excited to continue this work in Congress.”

State Senator Tony Vargas has been outspoken about the need to tackle the climate crisis and support Nebraska’s clean energy economy. This past legislative session, he cosponsored a resolution stating the Legislature has a moral obligation to combat climate change. Vargas has also introduced legislation to incentivize energy efficiency and to use the funds the state received from the settlement with Volkswagen to invest in clean school buses and electric vehicles. He is running for Congress on his support for creating good-paying jobs in clean energy, being good stewards of the land and holding polluters accountable.
