Nation’s leading progressive and environmental advocacy organizations launch campaign thanking Senators Bennet, Brown, Cantwell, Cardin, Carper, Casey, Cortez Masto, Hassan, Menendez, Stabenow, Warren, Warner, Whitehouse, and Wyden for supporting the Clean Energy for America Act.

Washington, D.C. — A coalition of advocacy organizations launched a digital ad campaign thanking Senators for supporting the Clean Energy for America Act, an important bill that would create aggressive tax policies that would drive reductions in the carbon pollution that exacerbates climate change.

The Center for American Progress, Earthjustice, EDF Action, League of Conservation Voters, National Wildlife Federation, and NRDC Action Fund are sponsoring  the campaign which thanks Senators Michael Bennet, Sherrod Brown, Maria Cantwell, Ben Cardin, Tom Carper, Bob Casey, Catherine Cortez Masto, Maggie Hassan, Bob Menendez, Debbie Stabenow, Elizabeth Warren, Mark Warner, Sheldon Whitehouse, and Ron Wyden for their support of the Clean Energy for America Act.

The tax incentives included in the Clean Energy for America Act are a major component of President Biden’s American Jobs Plan. This bill is projected to reduce climate emissions from the power sector by more than 75 percent and double clean energy generation over 10 years; help ensure electric vehicles constitute the majority of all new passenger vehicles sold; create more than half a million high quality jobs and support domestic manufacturing; increase access to solar energy; and accelerate adoption of zero emissions medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.

“The Clean Energy for America Act will be critical in fulfilling the American Jobs Plan’s vision for a clean energy economy by providing incentives to invest and innovate in clean energy and clean transportation,” said Jessica Ennis, Legislative Director for Climate and Energy at Earthjustice. “We thank Chairman Wyden and Senators Bennet, Brown, Cantwell, Cardin, Carper, Casey, Cortez Masto, Hassan, Menendez, Stabenow, Warren, Warner, and Whitehouse for their leadership on this legislation.”

“The Clean Energy for America Act makes the tax code smarter by rewarding investment in clean energy and unleashing the innovation we need to slash climate pollution in our power, transportation and buildings sectors,” said Elizabeth Gore, Senior Vice President, Political Affairs, EDF Action. “We are grateful to Chairman Wyden for developing this measure and to Senators Bennet, Brown, Cantwell, Carper, Cardin, Casey, Cortez Masto, Hassan, Menendez, Stabenow, Warner, Warren, and Whitehouse for their work and support for it. We encourage the full Senate to pass it quickly as part of the comprehensive American Jobs Plan.”

“We applaud Chairman Wyden and Senators Bennet, Brown, Cantwell, Cardin, Carper, Casey, Cortez Masto, Hassan, Menendez, Stabenow, Warren, Warner, and Whitehouse for leading this visionary legislation that will accelerate our transition to clean electricity, transportation, and buildings,” said Matthew Davis, Senior Director of Government Affairs, LCV. “It’s time for Congress to pass the full American Jobs Plan, including these clean energy tax incentives in the Clean Energy for America Act, and deliver on transformational climate, clean energy, jobs and justice legislation for our communities.”

“We are grateful for Chairman Wyden and the Senate Finance Committee’s leadership in advancing the Clean Energy for America Act, which will create jobs and help us confront the climate crisis,” said Shannon Heyck-Williams, director of climate and energy policy at the Federation. “Clean energy should ‘go where the carbon is’ for maximum climate benefit and to help diversify local economies historically dependent on fossil fuels. The proposal from Senators Casey, Bennet and Brown is an excellent complement to the technology-neutral approach offered by Chairman Wyden, and should open the door to new clean energy opportunities in more areas of the country.”
