Charlotte, NC — LCV Victory Fund today announced a $250,000 digital ad and direct mail campaign in North Carolina’s 9th congressional district. The campaign contrasts Iraq War veteran Dan McCready’s record of creating good, green jobs at North Carolina solar farms with Dan Bishop’s record of siding with Big Oil and allowing toxic pollution in the air. 

The digital campaign launched today and will run on Facebook, YouTube and various video streaming services through the NC-09 Special Election on September 10. The first direct mail pieces will go out this weekend. The layered that communication campaign will target North Carolina Democrats who don’t always vote in off-year elections.

“Dan Bishop always puts polluters over people,” said Pete Maysmith, LCV Victory Fund SVP of Campaigns. “Bishop took thousands in campaign contributions from Big Oil, and sided with the special interests by voting to allow them to pollute our air which could make our kids sick. Dan Bishop is everything that’s wrong with Washington.”

“Dan McCready is the environmental champion we need in the Ninth District,” said Dan Crawford, North Carolina LCV Director of Governmental Relations. “McCready puts our country first — he fought for us as a Marine combat veteran, and now he’s fighting for our earth as the climate crisis gets more and more severe. North Carolinians are already suffering from climate-fueled extreme weather, and we need leaders like McCready who will act on climate to protect our families and our future.” 

In addition to voting to block safeguards against fracking emissions and taking campaign donations from Big Oil, Dan Bishop also opposed a bipartisan bill that could have lowered prescription drug prices for North Carolinians. He made the air less healthy, then prevented people from accessing more affordable healthcare.
