Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters released the following statement on President Trump’s executive order attacking the Clean Air Act from Legislative Representative Sara Jordan:

“Trump’s executive order empowers Scott Pruitt’s EPA to ignore science and data in setting air quality standards. By directing the EPA to reconsider all of its past guidance from the National Ambient Air Quality Standards program, Trump is threatening clean air protections for cities across the country. This is yet another example of this administration selling out our future to industry polluters – it’s nothing more than a naked attempt to attack science, gut our clean air protections, and put polluter profits ahead of our health.

“Bottom line: this will lead to dirtier air in cities nationwide, exposing millions more to air pollution and threatening the health of 25 million people who already suffer from asthma.”
