LCV Launches $26K in Digital Ads to Thank Members of Congress for Support for Protections from Offshore, Arctic Drilling

Washington, D.C. — On Friday, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) announced $26,000 in new digital ads that will run in the home districts of 22 Members of Congress throughout the rest of September. Following the passage of H.R. 1146, legislation restoring protections against drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, H.R. 1941, the Coastal and Marine Economies Protection Act, and H.R. 205, the Protecting and Securing Florida’s Coastline Act of 2019, the ads will thank Members for their support of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and coastal economies.

“LCV is thrilled to see the pro-environment House of Representatives passing bipartisan legislation protecting the Arctic Refuge and coastal communities from harmful drilling,” said Tiernan Sittenfeld, LCV Senior Vice President of Government Affairs. “We thank our Congressional champions for standing up for the Gwich’in people and the majestic and sacred lands of the Arctic Refuge. The Refuge is ground zero for climate change and selling it out to big polluters is unpopular and unconscionable. LCV also commends our champions for fighting to protect our coasts from the threats that offshore drilling poses to human life, marine life, and local economies. Coastal communities are already on the frontlines of the climate crisis and they cannot withstand another devastating oil spill like the Deepwater Horizon. Protecting our lands, waters and coastal communities from expanded drilling is common sense policy. It’s time for Leader McConnell to stop running the Senate as a legislative graveyard and allow votes on all three bills.”
