Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) congratulates Senator Mark Warner and Representatives Elaine Luria (VA-02), Donald McEachin (VA-04), Abigail Spanberger (VA-07), and Jennifer Wexton (VA-10) on their victories in Virginia.

“LCV congratulates key ally Senator Mark Warner and Virginia’s pro-environment House Members for their victories,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “Fighting for bold action on the climate crisis and working to protect public lands is important to Virginians and we are thrilled to work with these climate and environmental justice leaders in Congress.”

LCV Victory Fund invested over $280K in VA-07 with ads targeting Spanberger’s opponent, Nick Freitas — naming Freitas part of the 2020 Dirty Dozen

LCV’s GreenRoots member mobilization program turned out LCV members to volunteer with the Biden, Warner, Luria, Webb, Spanberger, and Wexton campaigns as part of a nationwide field program to help elect environmental champions that engaged nearly 2,600 LCV members.

Environmental donors contributed over $2.6 million to Virginia candidates via GiveGreen. GiveGreen — a partnership between LCV Victory Fund, NextGen America and the NRDC Action Fund PAC that helps grassroots donors directly contribute to pro-environment candidates — raised a record $43 million for the 2020 cycle.

LCV Action Fund endorsed Warner, Luria, McEachin, Spanberger, and Wexton because of their commitments to renewable energy and climate action.

These are just some of the climate champions who won up and down the ballot, demonstrating that leaning into environmental issues is both good policy and good politics.
