Help LCV respond to threats to our communities and our climate in 2025 Give Now
Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Ted Lieu for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives from California’s 33rd Congressional District.
“Representative Ted Lieu quickly emerged as a leading voice for climate action in Congress and as California battles treacherous wildfires it is critical we keep environmental allies representing the state,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to support him for re-election because we know he will continue to fight for bold and just action on the climate crisis and fight to protect the health and safety of California families.”
“From his service in the California Legislature to now in his role in Congress, Representative Lieu has been a strong and consistent voice fighting for federal action to solve the climate crisis,” said Mike Young, CLCV Political & Organizing Director. “Our legislators need an intersectional approach to the climate crisis, and Representative Lieu has proven himself a leader who considers the fact that climate impacts disproportionately affect people of color and low-income communities, and that’s the approach we need to build an equitable and stable climate future.”
“One of the main reasons I first ran for Congress is because I believe climate change is our greatest existential threat and it must be addressed,” said Representative Ted Lieu. “California is currently in the midst of another devastating wildfire season made worse by climate change. It is more apparent than ever that we must take bold action. A healthy and safe future hangs in the balance. I am grateful for LCV Action Fund’s endorsement, and I hope voters will continue to support our efforts to reverse the harmful effects of climate change and protect our environment.”
Representative Ted Lieu was elected to represent California’s 33rd Congressional District in 2014. Lieu led efforts in asking the Department of Justice to investigate whether Exxon-Mobil willfully spread misinformation about climate change, and is a member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition. Lieu previously served in the state Assembly and Senate, where he co-authored California’s landmark climate change bill. Representative Lieu has earned a 90% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
