Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Joaquin Castro for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas’s 20th Congressional District.

“Throughout his career, from the state House to Congress, Representative Joaquin Castro has demonstrated his commitment to transitioning to a clean energy future and building a stronger green economy,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to support him for re-election because we know he will continue to take action on the climate crisis and fight for the health and safety of all communities in Texas, especially as the state continues to be threatened by extreme weather.”

“In Texas we know firsthand what the devastating effects of climate change can do to our communities, and I am committed to continue fighting for bold and just action on the climate crisis,” said Representative Joaquin Castro. “I am proud to have earned the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund and look forward to working with them to protect our clean air, water, and public lands and build resilient infrastructures.”

Joaquin Castro has represented Texas’s 20th Congressional district since 2013. Representative Castro is a supporter of energy efficiency and methane emissions mitigation and has secured millions of dollars in grants from the Department of Energy for these purposes. During his tenure in the Texas state House, Castro’s commitment to clean energy won him the 2008 Wind Coalition Outstanding Supporter award. This past Congress, he co-sponsored H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act, the Green New Deal resolution and the 100% Clean Economy Act. He has earned an excellent 96% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
