Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced its endorsement of Jim Himes for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Connecticut’s 4th Congressional District.

“Jim Himes has made investments in clean and renewable energy a top priority in Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We can count on him to speak out against the radical attacks on our health and to champion smart and equitable solutions to the climate crisis. We are proud to endorse him for re-election.”

“Congressman Jim Himes has been at the forefront of climate change in our state,” said Executive Director Lori Brown, Connecticut League of Conservation Voters. “Storm Isais hit Southwest Connecticut hard. Jim Himes was in the field to see first-hand what his constituents were experiencing and was determined to hold our state’s largest electric utility accountable for their incompetent response. He submitted powerful testimony to our Governor to ‘Take Back the Grid’ and to be prepared for increasingly dangerous storms due to a changing climate.”

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Congressman Jim Himes. “LCV’s work in advocating for the preservation of our environment and for action to combat climate change makes a difference every single day. Connecticut has been directly impacted by the effects of climate change and I remain committed to addressing this serious problem in Congress.”

Representative Jim Himes has been serving Connecticut’s 4th Congressional District since 2009. In elected office, he is the author of multiple bills aimed at promoting efficiency retrofits and the use of renewable energy in residential areas, and a cosponsor of two other bills which create tax incentives for wind electricity, solar and fuel cells. Himes has also secured funding to clean up hazardous waste sites and improve water quality in Connecticut, has supported conservation of the Long Island Sound, and worked hard to ensure Congress passed the Great American Outdoors Act. Representative Himes has earned a 95% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
