Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today the endorsement of Jessica Cisneros for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas’ 28th Congressional District.

“Jessica Cisneros is the climate and environmental justice leader we need in South Texas,” said LCV Action Fund Vice President of Political Affairs Craig Auster. “Thousands of people in Laredo have lacked clean drinking water this past month due to semi-annual water line breaks – it’s clear South Texans need a representative who will prioritize their health and well-being over corporate polluter profits. LCV Action Fund is thrilled to support Jessica Cisneros’ campaign for Congress because we know she will continue to fight for the health of all communities and clean energy, justice and jobs.”

“I am so proud to have earned the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Jessica Cisneros. “South Texas deserves better than Representative Cuellar, they deserve someone who will fight to keep our water drinkable, our air breathable, and our communities safe from environmental threats. I am ready to be that representative for my community and deliver a cleaner future for us all.”

Jessica Cisneros was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. Her family immigrated to Texas from Mexico to receive urgent medical care for her sister. Her father picked fruit and later started his own trucking company. Cisneros was the valedictorian of her high school before graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, after which she gained her law degree from the University of Texas Law School. She is currently an immigration attorney and has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work to help immigrant families. She has campaigned on addressing environmental injustices in South Texas, including eliminating pollution that has caused increased rates of asthma, a just transition to a clean future that empowers workers, protecting voting rights and against the xenophobic and anti-environment border wall.
