Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Jennifer Wexton for Congress in Virginia’s 10th District.

“Jennifer Wexton is a champion for clean air and water,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “She has a proven record of promoting common sense clean energy legislation and standing up to polluters to improve the health and quality of life of all Virginians. We need her voice in Congress and are thrilled to endorse her campaign.”

“Jennifer Wexton has made it a point to put the environment first in the Virginia Senate, and we look forward to her taking this leadership to Congress,” said Virginia League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Michael Town. “From expanding clean energy to preserving water quality, Jennifer has always been a reliable ally. We are excited to see what she will accomplish in Congress and will continue to work with her to build a healthier future for our commonwealth.”

“I am honored to have the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Jennifer Wexton. “Fighting to protect our environment has been a priority for me in the State Senate and LCV has always been a strong partner in that effort. With Donald Trump in the White House and Scott Pruitt as the head of the EPA, it’s more important than ever to elect members of Congress who will protect our planet for this and future generations.

Jennifer Wexton was raised in Leesburg, Virginia, and was elected to represent Virginia Senate District 33 in 2014. In the Virginia Senate, Wexton is an environmental champion, earning a 97 percent lifetime score on Virginia LCV’s Conservation Scorecard. She has received the “Environmental Freedom” Award from Sierra Club Virginia and the “Legislative Hero” Award from Virginia LCV. Wexton sponsored a strong community solar bill in the Senate and has consistently voted in favor of clean energy and energy efficiency initiatives and to protect Virginia’s land and waters.
