Help LCV respond to threats to our communities and our climate in 2025 Give Now
Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today the endorsement of Jeff Jackson for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from North Carolina’s 14th Congressional District.
“State Senator Jeff Jackson has been a climate and environmental justice champion throughout his time in the state legislature and we are thrilled to support his campaign for Congress so he can keep fighting for all North Carolinians,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “Senator Jackson has made it clear that climate, racial justice, and democracy will continue to be his top priorities and we look forward to having his voice in Congress fighting to advance our clean energy economy, create good-paying jobs, and protect the health and safety of all communities.”
“We will miss Senator Jackson’s leadership in the North Carolina Senate, but are excited to have him in Washington fighting for clean air and water there,” said NCLCV Executive Director Carrie Clark.
“As a father of young children who will live to see the long-term consequences of climate change, we must take swift action to protect our environment and promote clean energy solutions in our economy,” said Senator Jeff Jackson. “I am grateful for LCV Action Fund’s endorsement and am eager to work with them in the fight for a safe and just climate. We have what it takes to make remarkable progress on climate change while accelerating economic growth. It’s time to act.”
State Senator Jeff Jackson began his career in the Army and continues to serve today as a Major in the Army National Guard. He began his law career as a prosecutor in Gaston County, North Carolina and eventually became the assistant district attorney. In 2014, Jackson became the second-youngest senator in the North Carolina State Senate. Senator Jackson has been an environmental champion throughout his time in the State Senate, earning a 93 percent lifetime score from NCLCV and 100 percent in 2021. In his first year in the Senate, Jackson worked with NCLCV to propose amendments to add additional coal ash sites to their high priority cleanup list. NCLCV quickly labeled Jackson a “rising star” for actively speaking “up on behalf of the environment throughout the session.” Over the last eight years, he has introduced and cosponsored a number of bills related to climate action, accelerating the transition to clean energy, promoting electric vehicles and energy efficiency, and protecting clean water, including from PFAS chemicals. He has worked to address racial disparities in housing and the criminal justice system, ensure our democracy works for all by opposing efforts at voter suppression and gerrymandering, and supported recognition for North Carolina’s Lumbee tribe.
