Washington, DC-The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today its endorsement of Ammar Campa-Najjar for Congress in California’s 50th Congressional District.

“LCV Action Fund is proud to endorse Ammar Campa-Najjar for Congress because he is committed to climate action,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “Communities in California’s 50th district deserve a representative who will invest in their clean energy future and fight to protect our treasured public lands and open spaces.”

“We are proud to support Ammar Campa-Najjar for Congress, a true advocate for environmental justice,” said California League of Conservation Voters Political & Organizing Director Mike Young. “Ammar understands the needs CA50’s families, farmers, and military members face against the challenge of global climate change. We are confident he will be a part of the next generation of leadership in Congress advancing environmental policy; that is why we are committed to helping him get elected.”

“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Ammar Campa-Najjar. “One of my goals when I started this journey, was to lift up a generation of unheard voters and invest in our country’s environmental future. Now more than ever, it is important that we protect our natural habitats from desecration and pollution. With the League of Conservation Voters,  I will advocate for sensible environmental policies and champion these issues in Congress.”

Ammar Campa-Najjar was born and raised in San Diego, California. He worked as a janitor, attended community college, and eventually graduated from San Diego State University. He worked on President Obama’s reelection campaign in 2012 and went on to serve at the White House as part of the team that selected the letters President Obama would read every day. After, Campa-Najjar led the Office of Public Affairs for the Employment and Training Administration at the U.S. Department of Labor. He later worked at U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as their communications director. In Congress, he will focus on the transition to a 100% clean energy economy and work to curb dangerous wildfires that have increasingly threatened communities in Southern California.
