The stakes in the 2020 election couldn’t be higher, and exercising your right to vote couldn’t be more important. Democracy for All, a program of LCV & LCV Education Fund, has put together a packed schedule of voter engagement events and activities this week starting tomorrow, National Voter Registration Day. Democracy for All is committed to advocating for structural democracy reform, and mobilizing young people and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to participate in the democratic process.

Tuesday, September 22
National Voter Registration Day
We are kicking off this week with a National Voter Registration Regional Battle! Join us at 7:00pm ET on Zoom for a couch party as our state teams battle to see who can get the most people registered to vote. You will also hear from our teams on the ground who are doing the work to empower their communities and make their voices heard in 2020. We’ll be joined by some talented local DJs from each region who will keep us entertained as we’re texting voters. RSVP here.

Create Your Vote Plan
Forming a vote plan significantly increases your likelihood of voting, and only takes a few minutes. Even if you are already registered to vote, it’s important to verify your voter registration, as a common form of voter suppression is purging voting lists. If you’re planning to vote in person, it’s important to ensure your regular polling location will be open on November 3rd and that you have the proper PPE to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Know Your History
It’s important that we understand our past so we don’t repeat it. We spend today honoring those who have fought and continue to fight for our right to vote; we encourage you to spend today learning about the history of voting rights in America. We will be hosting a Voting Rights Webinar with civil rights leaders from The Leadership Conference at 4:00pm ET as we make the connections between racial discrimination, environmental injustice, and why it’s so important that every community has their voice heard this November. Take Action
One of the most important ways to take action this election year is to volunteer. You can volunteer from the safety of your home by texting or calling voters to help them register to vote, and our state teams can provide you with free training. You can volunteer in person to become a poll worker on Election Day to ensure enough polling locations are open on November 3rd so everyone has access to vote. Engaging Through Artivism
Activists often use art to illustrate the importance of and bring awareness to issues like civic engagement and voter suppression. We encourage you all to spend some time creating art that incorporates voting and the importance of civic engagement! Our voter protection resources can help you find a solution to any problems that come up as you cast your ballot. Your best choice is always the Election Protection Hotlines that are run by leading civic engagement groups to answer any questions you have about voting. They operate within normal business hours during early voting and all day on Election Day.
